The Transahara festival returns to the Sahara desert in March 2022
Transahara is the most authentic and unique in the world desert party. It is a magical musical oasis in the shade of a mysterious sand dune that can only be found in the depths of the Sahara Desert, in a dry Moroccan lake. It operates near the city of Merzouga from March 17 to 21, 2022 and coincides with the equinox, a very special and spiritual time that marks the transition from winter to spring, from darkness to light, which means you will simultaneously see the moon set and the sun rise over the same breathtaking horizon. The Einstein Rosen Bridge will be presented by Adama, Aija, Beardy Weardy, Brojanowski, Eat Static, Emok, Guiseppe and The Stephen Hawking Gate will be presented by Sebastian Mulleart, AMVN, Bas Ibellini, D-Nox, Eitan Reiter, John Acquaviva, Nitin, Miyagi, Konstantin, MR ID, and many more.
The sands of time slowly pass over this majestic desert landscape, the seductive silence of the dunes soothes the soul, and the endless horizons clear your mind. It is known for its bright colors and exotic foods and is steeped in Arab-Berber culture. It is a true desert paradise where iconic scenes from films like The Mummy, Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, James Bond and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time were filmed, where Jean Michel Jarre gave one of his most legendary live shows, and where, ultimately, Transahara will be Africa’s own Burning Man.
Transahara was founded in 2002. It started as a low-key gathering of music fans on a budget and with a big dream. Rather than pursue corporate sponsorship and run to sell hundreds of thousands of tickets, it just continued to grow at a steady pace. There were years when there was no festival at all. Music and experience have always been the most important, rather than making an event for fun. Transahara, on the other hand, is ready to come back and score once more.
This ancient place will become a melting pot of cultural exchanges, world-class artistic expression and house, psytrance, chill out and techno for just five days and four nights. There will be three distinct stages, each with its own unique look and feel. They will act as interdimensional and intermusical portals to different worlds and play nonstop music between them.
Because psytrance originates from the desert, there will be a real interaction between the sounds and the scenes. It is also the beating heart of the so-called “house of the desert” sound, which has gained worldwide fame. You’ll find the world’s most authentic blend of spiritual sounds, desert grooves and transcendent vibes at Transahara. DJ sets will be carefully selected to create musical journeys that tell a story. There will be live music, traditional local bands and great acoustic sessions, as well as a variety of special afters.
Legend of deep techno Sébastien Mulleart, cult figure of tech-house Bas Ibellini, enduring pioneer of techno John Acquaviva, along with a large number of contemporary trendsetters like D-Nox, Eitan Reiter, Nitin, Miyagi, Konstantin, Adama, Aija, Beardy Weardy, Brojanowski, Eat Static and others, are among those bringing the world class sounds.
Transahara is aimed at people from all walks of life and with varying budgets. In the rich range of local hotels, campsites and bell tents to suit all tastes, accommodation can be found 400 m or 3.5 km away. As a result, travelers from all over the world will be able to plan their own trips, share their stories and contribute to the unique atmosphere of this unique gathering in the desert.
Details of specially organized day trips to local towns and historic sites, such as bustling Marrakech markets, camel treks, and UNESCO World Heritage-listed villages will be available in the months future. A whole wellness village will be unveiled, with a multitude of local customs, cultures and healing treatments, as well as a diverse range of artistic installations that will appear throughout the site to make it even more stimulating for the senses. .
Transahara will transport you to a world unlike any other in the desert. It will be a real escape from reality. An unforgettable and revealing mix of music, culture and art with open-minded people from all over the world.
